"I Cut Like a Buffalo"

Dead Weather is exciting the f*&k out of me. They are releasing their albumn on July 14th. I have been watching their videos and listening to some of their songs at http://www.thedeadweather.com/ under the media link. Meanwhile til the album is released on the 14th of July you can hear all the songs on the record streaming at http://apps.facebook.com/ilike/artist/The%20Dead%20Weather.

"ICut Like a Buffalo" makes me want to stomp a hole in the floor, makes me feel like mountains will move in my presence, makes me wanna steal a car and drive West into the night to a phantom roadhouse.

Postville Raid "AbUSed" Luis Argueta

Official "AbUSed" website.

Here is information about the film about the Postville immigration raid I mentioned today on the show.

*Mr. Mejia will be joined by critically acclaimed movie director Luis Argueta who is in the post-production stage of abUSed - The Postville Raid, the full-length documentary that tells the story of the most brutal, most expensive, and one of the largest Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids in the history of the United States. Most of these workers were from Guatemala. The film presents the human face of the issue of immigration reform and serves as a cautionary tale against abuses of constitutional human rights. Mr. Argueta’s visit to Madison is being coordinated by Interfaith Coalition for Worker Justice in cooperation with the Workers Rights Center.

The link below will take you to a Jetpak with several links to articles and organizations relating to the Postville Raid, immigration reform and detention centers.

Live Streaming Performance WebSites

This morning I featured several pieces from Daytrotter'swebsite including Jesse Sykes and the Sweet Hereafter, Castanets, D.M. Stith, and Horse Feathers. They have over 500 performances posted on their site and post new ones every day. Really creative music writing on the site also.

Recently I have been checking out Qwartz; site and organization in France devoted to experimental electronic music. They are a foundation and an awards site but you can also stream performances on it. I found it via Taylor Dupree's site 12K. He is part of the foundation and has a performance on Qwartz but on 12K he posts high quality field recordings of sounds from his surroundings, whether it be a walk through Notre Dame in Paris or a moment on a sidewalk in Florida with a girl going by on a scooter.
